The local area is very well served with good places for eating out, and children are welcomed everywhere. We would advise you to book ahead as they are all popular.
The Bay Horse Ale House Burythorpe is open daily from 11.30 am serving real ale from£2.50 a pint and also serving food from 12 – 2.00 pm. Sunday lunch is a must. A very cosy candlelit pub with open fires and friendly welcoming greeting.
The best local steaks are probably served at the The Blacksmiths Arms in Westow, another friendly local pub.
On a sunny afternoon, the outside tables at The Stone Trough Inn near the picturesque ruins of Kirkham Abbey are perfect, with great views. The food is tasty and good value.
There is The Jolly Farmers in Leavening, which offers good-quality yet inexpensive cooking, and well-kept beers.
For a treat, you can also eat in Burythorpe’s rather smart hotel, Burythorpe House, where the restaurant is open to non-residents.
All these places are within 15 minutes’ drive!
Slightly further afield, you have the Michelin-starred excellence of the Pipe and Glass at South Dalton, whilst Malton has a decent Italian, Florios, perfect for family pasta and pizza meals. Also in Malton are Indian, Chinese and Tex-Mex places.
